Since 2005, San Juan County has been conducting public meetings to discuss how the county
should manage future development in the unincorporated areas to protect the citizen's quality of life
and economic opportunities. The number one issue derived from these input meetings was the need to address the trash and junk problem in the unincorporated areas of San Juan County.
With the help of a citizen Blue Ribbon steering committee, the San Juan County Commission
recently proposed two (2) junk and trash ordinances for adoption: Ordinance # 72-Junkyard, Junked Vehicle, and Junked Mobile Home Ordinance and Ordinance #73- Trash and Refuse
Disposal and Accumulation Ordinance. For more information and to view copies of the proposed ordinances go to the project web site at www.sanjuancountyplanning.com www.sjcounty.net ,the County Clerk's office or the County Executive Office booth at the County Fair (Aug. 9th-14th).
